Sandstorm Photoshop Effect

Create a particle dispersion photo effect in Photoshop with a few clicks

Create a particle effect on your photos. Simply brush over the area of your photo where you want to create the effect and run the Photoshop Action

You can choose from 5 different directions: UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT or MIDDLE

Make sure to watch the customisation tutorial on how to get the most out of this effect.

The Action has been tested and working on Photoshop (English only) CS3 and abvoe

Important to know

  • Make sure you are using the English version of Photoshop to run the Action on. All Sevenstyles Actions will only work in the English version of Photoshop.
  • Check you are using a version of Photoshop that the Action supports.
  • Watch the video tutorial to ensure you have your Photoshop file setup correctly. You can view the video tutorial in the above ‘Tutorial‘ section. A link to the tutorial is also included in the ‘Readme‘ file in the download.
  • Use high-resolution photos with the Action for the best results and to avoid errors. An optimal photo resolution is between 2000px – 4500px.
  • With Adobe Creative Cloud, you can install multiple versions of Photoshop. If you like this Action but is not supported on your version of Photoshop, you can always install an additional version of Photoshop to run the Action on. Once an Action has been tested and working on a version of Photoshop, it will always work.
  • Use Jpeg images to run the Action on. Other file types such as TIFF, BMP, PNG, PSD can cause issues with Actions, as Photoshop disables various features for different file types.
  • If a Sevenstyles Action includes a brush (.abr), pattern (.pat) or shapes (.csh) file in the download, then it must be loaded into Photoshop before playing the Action.
  • Avoid using the Action on logos or clip art style images as the lack of detail and color contrast can lead to errors.

Having troubles with the Action?

  1. Double check you have your file setup correctly as shown at the beginning of the video tutorial.
  2. Check the resolution of your photo. If its a low-resolution photo (<1000px), take the shortest length of your photo and increase it to around 2500px or more.
  3. Have a look at my support topics here. I list all common errors with solutions.
  4. If you are still stuck, please email me with a screenshot of your entire Photoshop interface where the error shows. Please let me also know what version of Photoshop you are using so I can help you faster. You can find my email address in the ‘How to contact me‘ topic on the support page.

Create custom effects

Photo effect Actions can be combined to create new effects. Follow these steps below:

  1. Run the first Action on your photo.
  2. Once you are happy with the result, save your design as a Jpeg image.
  3. Close your Photoshop file and re-open the image you just saved.
  4. Now run another Action over your photo! This will then stack the second effect on top of the first.

There are so many undiscovered effects that can be created!

Thank you for your support and I hope you create some cool effects! Check out my portfolio for the full collection of photo effects and other products I recommend.

One of my absolute favourite actions – superb action creation as always 🙂

Just read the help file BEFORE you start! It will set up the file and PS so the action can actually do its amazing stuff. I was too eager and just ran it on a file – MY mistake!! This is going to give some of my work a boost to a level I could only have dreamed about.

This Author is from another dimension. I suspect he is a grey alien and he has the alien tech in his hands. Hands down!

As with ALL of the actions from SevenStyles, the SAND STORM action is expertly built and very powerful. I use all of their actions on a weekly basis and have turned my photographs into works of art that sell.

Can’t believe the quality and versatility at such a wallet-friendly price. Have already stocked up on several more resources from sevenstyles. A+ Would recommend

Item quality and flexibility are two of the key things you get with this action. I love the hints and tips on this website as well as on the ReadMe file that comes with these actions. I also follow Seven Styles on YouTube. The video tutorials don not only explain thoroughly how to get the most out of the action, but they are also teaching me many cool tricks and shortcuts in Photoshop. I am using Photoshop more and enjoying it more. Excellent!
